Carrie explains the story behind the song: Temporary Home

During her recent CMT Invitation Only performance, Carrie Underwood revealed to the audience the inspiration behind her latest single, ‘Temporary Home,’ which she wrote with Luke Laird and Zac Maloy.

This [song] means so much to me. I was a co-writer on it. I was reading a book called ‘Purpose Driven Life.’ It talks about how this world is temporary. It’s a temporary home, and we’re on our way to someplace else, and we need to do everything we can here now because this isn’t it. It’s not over.

That is something I believe down to my core. One day I was getting ready to write, and it just comes in like a flood. It’s a sad song, but it’s a joyful song because these people are on their way someplace else. This is just a stop on the way.

Taylor S & Taylor L…it’s OVER!

Our friend at Nashville Gab has some news….. Taylor Swift and Taylor Lautner are OVER! Read the story….

Oh man, the suits involved in the upcoming ’Valentine’s Day’ movie aren’t going to be one bit happy about this.

According to Us Magazine Taylor Swift and Taylor Lautner are no longer Taylor squared or Taylor x2 or TayTay or any of those other cutesie names all us bloggers liked coming up with and have reportedly went their separate ways.

“It wasn’t really developing into anything, and wasn’t going to, so they decided they were better as friends,” a source close to Swift, 20, tells US. “There was no chemistry, and it felt contrived.”

Darn, super sad face.

So what could have done in the too-cute pair?  Apparently the puppy love was a little stronger on the werewolf side of things.

However, the relationship officially fizzled when Lautner, 17, flew to Nashville for Swift’s birthday party on Dec. 13, a friend of the singer reveals.

“He liked her more than she liked him,” the source tells Us. “He went everywhere he could to see her, but she didn’t travel much to see him.”

So if the Swift-half of the duo did the breaking up does that mean that no good songs will be coming out of this relationship?

Taylor's New Condo Is Inside This Building

Taylor Swift has a new home! According to RealEstalker.com  Taylor bought a 4,062 square foot, 3 bedroom, 4.5 bathroom penthouse in Nashville’s Adelicia complex for nearly $2 million buckaroos.  Also reported to be a tenant of the “18-story mixed use tower” is Julianne Hough.  Wow!! Good for Taylor!

Would you look at that ROCK!!!

Yay! Carrie’s engaged! So happy for her! Now take a look at that rock? Whoa! It’s huge! I did some research and according to the Diamond Information Center, Carrie’s new ring from her finance, Mike Fisher,  was a major looker — it was estimated at around $150,000 and said to to be a 5-plus carat round diamond with diamond sidestones.

But now, more details about her bling have been unearthed. The center stone seen on Carrie (during Mike’s Ottawa Senators game last week) is a flawless yellow diamond, which was designed by jeweler Johnathon Arndt. “This ring is a symbol of love from Mike Fisher to Carrie Underwood,” the artist said in a release. “Warm Wishes and Congratulations to Carrie and Mike!!!”

Sounds like Carrie’s found herself a KEEPER!

20104

It’s the final week of 2009 and everyone is talking about their New Years Resolutions going into 2010. I am no different. However, this year, I’m not calling my list one of “resolutions”, I’m calling it my lists of “Hopes” for 2010.  I’d love to hear yours so feel free to leave your comments below. Happy New Year!

In 2010 I hope to:

1) Learn to shut my kid’s bedroom doors instead of complaining about it being messy.

2) Stop rushing through life and enjoy the ride.

3) Learn to say the word NO and stick to it!

4) Be a positive influence on my children.

5) Be a cheerleader for my teammates at work.

6) Pray more.

7) Eat healthier.

8) Save money for vacation.

9) Make as many people smile as possible.

10) Go on a trip with my high school girl friends.

Chocolate Crackers

Chocolate Crackers

Ingredients:
Saltine Crackers  ( 2 sleeves)
2 sticks Butter
1/2 cup Brown Sugar
Chocolate Chips
Take a cookie sheet…line with foil…spray with non-stick spray…I like the butter flavor.  Pre-heat oven to 350 degrees. Lay one sleeve of crackers flat on cookie sheet. Mix together 1/2 cup brown sugar and 2 sticks of butter… melt in the microwave about a minute. Stir and pour over crackers.  Bake @ 350 degrees for 5 minutes…don’t let them go longer than 5 min. or it ruins them
( Only use half of the butter and brown sugar mixture) use the other half on another batch. )
Take out and pour about a half a bag of chocolate chips on and spread with a fork Refridgerate until hard… take out and break like toffee in pieces..very yummy!!!  My family likes pecans so I sprinkle chopped pecans on them as well.

Another easy hoiliday recipe.

Heat oven to 375.  Mix together all ingredients and press into a 13X9X2 glass baking dish that has been sprayed with Pam. ( This is almost a cookie dough-like consistency)

If desired: sprinkle the chocolate chips and pecans on top and press lightly into the batter.  Bake at 375 for 17 minutes.  Let cool and cut into bars. These are great with milk or a cup of coffee.

Hot Crackers Recipe

Hot Crackers

Hot Crackers

My friend Kembralyn’s grandmother makes these crackers every year. Last Christmas was the first year I ever had these and they were so delicious I begged for the recipe. “Granny” uses a glass pickle jar to mix her crackers and the seasonings and she rolls the jar on its side. You can use a Ziploc bag, just be careful not to break the crackers.

Ingredients:

1 ¼ cups of canola oil

1 ( 1 ounce) package of dry ranch flavored dressing mix

2 Tablespoons of red pepper flakes

1 16 ounce box of saltine crackers

Use a large Ziploc storage bag.  I use the 2 gallon size. Add the oil, ranch dressing mix, red pepper flakes and crackers. Tumble constantly for 15 minutes. If you have small kids or don’t like it too hot, only use 1 TBS of the red pepper flakes. These crackers are great with cheese balls or your favorite dip or all alone. Just make sure you have something cool to drink, because they’re spicy.

Puppy Chow Recipe

Puppy Chow ( For Humans)

Puppy Chow ( For Humans)

My quest to share easy holiday recipes continues! The kids and I made a huge batch of Puppy Chow this weekend. It’s super easy to make and it’s sooooo good! This is a great snack to put in those cute decorative cellophane bags and give to your neighbors or co-workers. Our crew at the radio station usually fights over this, so I make a lot! I hit up the Dollar Tree or Deals and get cute holiday tubs and containers and use them for little gifts filled with sweet treats!  Have fun!

Ingredients:
1/2 cup Peanut Butter
1/4 cup Butter
1 cup Chocolate Chips
1/2 tsp. Vanilla
9 cups Crispix cereal (any flavor)
1-1/2 cups Powdered Sugar
Instructions:
1. Combine peanut butter, butter and chocolate chips in a microwave safe bowl.
2. Microwave for one minute then stir to blend all ingredients thoroughly. Add 1/2 tsp. vanilla. Stir well.
3. Place the 9 cups of Crispix cereal in a very large bowl.
4. Pour the peanut butter-chocolate mixture over the cereal and toss evenly, making sure all the cereal gets a good covering.
5. Coat with powdered sugar, sprinkling evenly over the cereal and tossing as you sprinkle to cover each piece well.

Note: I put the cereal with the chocolate/ peanut butter mixture in a gallon Ziploc bag and then pour the powdered sugar over it. Zip it up and shake it to cover with the sugar. Doing it in a big bowl is too messy.
